Possibly my favourite show of the whole of the season, was none other than the incredible Malan Breton.
I have personally been a fan of Malans for sometime now, and I have had the pleasure of using some of his pieces in some of my editorials, and they are not just beautiful pieces to shoot, but they are impeccably made and so wearable – it’s no wonder he’s so popular with celebs!
Malans SS19 collection is a dazzling display of bright bolds and glittering golds, aptly titled ‘ShowGirl’. This is stark departure from Malans AW18 collection which was very dark and heavy in comparison, this is like the beauty underneath that dark exterior, showcasing beautiful pastels next to bright neons and bold colours. There is a femininity and elegance about the collection, with beautiful embroidered lace and tool, layered underneath or alongside Malans signature structured jackets and overcoats.
The show itself was dramatic and emotional, and Malan himself burst into tears at the outpour of love his collection received – and it so thoroughly deserves.
With hauntingly dramatic and severe music, the runway was focused and strong, and the build up of colour and styles was beautifully presented – with the final look paying homage to the statue of liberty (what a headpiece!)
My standouts were the beautiful gold hues used in the pieces, and anyone who knows me, knows i’m an absolute sucker for a jacket, and nothing beats a Malan jacket in my opinion!
