Transparency reigned supreme in this SS19 collection from Jamie Wei Huang – and I loved every minute of it!
Firstly, I do have to thank the designer for getting me into the show and on the front row – a lot of people I spoke to couldn’t get into the show as they reached capacity much sooner than they anticipated – I guess that is the joys of being one of the first shows of the season – so THANK YOU 🙂
This collection is Boyfriends aesthetic through and through – it’s sexy, edgy, cool, and definitely has London roots, with beautiful Taiwanese influences.
The collection is made of predominantly lightweight fabrics, and focuses on the hottest trend for AW18 and carrying (literally, as bags have really picked up on this trend) into SS19 – transparency – and this was transparent done WELL!
Cobalt, denim wash and sea breeze blues, gemstone greens, flame reds, and pastel pinks all featured in the collection and told a beautiful bright and bold summer story.
I was especially drawn to the collections transparent cylinder bags, the cobalt blue and denim blue strap looks, and every single pastel pink item that walked down the runway (I really need me that pink mens denim jacket!!!) but can we please talk about the pillows strapped to the models… I’m still not entirely sold on those, but I like to be proven wrong, so I’ll wait for them to catch on…
This collection has some great commercial pieces, and I can see a lot of these pieces being featured editorially, and it’s a great way to bring in the SS season.
