EDITORS INTRODUCTIONS… QIMAN CAI

We wanted to showcase some individuals our Editor Aaron Mark felt you should get to know a bit better, and this week we introduce you to Taiwanese Model – Qiman Cai…

As you’ll recall from a few weeks ago when I introduced you to Nail Artist Marie-Louise Coster, I said I would be starting a run of introductions to talent I think you should know about!

Today I’m continuing that feature by introducing you to the stunning Qiman Cai, a model who frequents the runways of London Fashion Week walking for the likes of Marta Jakubowski and Simon Mo, and has featured in some large commercial campaigns with Volkswagen ID being the most recent.

Cai is currently residing in Milan, being managed by The One Models Management, URBN Models and Idol Management, but we first met here in London after being introduced by my podcasting Fashion Husband, Ross Pollard, and I was enamoured by her poise and elegance, and also her incredible kindness.
So let’s find out a little bit more about this glamazon…

Tell us a bit about yourself and how you got to be where you are today?
A girl who had never been abroad, deleted all her social media, and didn’t tell anyone except family, just for a dream that budded in my mind when I was 18 years old. I bought a one way ticket, and stepped into an adventure!
At the time, I didn’t have any support from mother agents, so I took my portfolio and went to different cities alone, knocking on the doors of modelling agencies, and attending casting after casting.
Shanghai, Beijing, Milan, Lisbon, Paris, Oslo, New York, Stockholm, Barcelona, Bangkok, London…
I have had some of the best, and worst experiences, and appreciate them all because they are all nutrients of growth. I am slowly on my way, but excited for what could come next.

What would you consider to be your biggest achievement to date?
The Volkswagen campaign. It was my second worldwide campaign, the first one being for Sunglass Hut, but I never saw it in person.
I didnʼt expect this Volkswagen campaign to be worldwide in the first place, until my friends saw the photos in another country, and so I realized it had been published as a worldwide campaign! Then a few days later I saw it in person in Milan, and that was one of best moments in my life, a feeling of dreams coming true!

What, or who, inspired you to get into the industry?
The Taiwanese model Chiling Lin. She is a famous actress in Asia now. She
increased awareness and attention of the modelling industry in Taiwan when she made her first public appearance.

If you could give one piece of advice to anyone wanting to start in the industry, what would it be?
To love all your features, and know that there is an action called ‘change’ whenever you need it.

Have you got anything exciting coming up that you’re willing to share with us?
I’m afraid I can’t tell you more than it’s a beauty campaign, and it’s something I’ve wanted to achieve in my modelling career for some time so I’m very excited.

We’re always excited to watch new talent develop and grow in this industry, and we know this is just the beginning for this lady… Go and follow Qiman and her adventures on instagram @qiman0119
