Internationally acclaimed emerging talent pioneer Fashion Scout provide us with their ‘Ones to Watch’ each season. It’s an opportunity for several lucky designers to showcase their collections at London Fashion Week to a crowd of press, buyers, and other notable fashion industry professionals.
The ‘Ones to Watch’ this season were selected by industry experts including Martyn Roberts – Fashion Scout’s Founder and Creative Director, Contanza Lombardi – Next Gen Buyer at Browns, Niamph Tuft –Fashion Revolution and Hannah Craggs – Youth Trends Editor at WGSN.
So let’s meet this years selected designers ahead of the show…
French native Vincent Lapp launched his couture label in 2018. This is a brand with both a heart and a mind, engaging in big issues such as sustainability, raising polemic, creating what they are calling ‘mindful fashion’. After graduating from Central Saint Martins, Lapps collection received attention from Dazed, Vogue Italia, and was also Richard Quinns Graduate Choice in Love Magazine, and we can see why with these high concept designs. We can’t wait to see what this brand has in store for this seasons ‘Ones to Watch’ catwalk…
Gala Borovic is originally from Serbia and launched her label by the same name in 2018 after graduating from Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade and ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in the Netherlands. The brand describes itself as an adult playground, counteracting the emotionless and remote fashion industry. It is with the use of textiles, prints, and concept developments to produce clothing that captures essential life moments, which will in turn make your emotional connection to the garments much deeper. The bold use of colours and prints here certainly makes this brand standout, and for all the right reasons…
Hailing from Britain, IA London is a British avantgarde brand founded by Cambridge based designer Ira Iceberg. The key concept of this brand is to produce wholly personalised fashion. A unique process has been developed to create a unique blend of art and fashion where the designer produces hand painted artwork, and this is then digitally printed directly onto the patterns. We adore this dark and twisted romantic high fashion and can’t wait to see it in person on the runway….
Studio Adaptive Skins
Jef Montes set up Studio Adaptive Skins in 2018. It is a textile architecture studio based in Arnhem, Netherlands, with a focus on responsive materials. The design approach is to create shapes within the materials instead of cutting them out of 2D fabrics. The garments are responsive to the human and improve the experiences of body, light, energy, areas, acoustics and climate. This is a totally intriguing concept and we’re really keen to see how this will play out on the runway, is this the future of fashion?
