LDC DESIGNER FEATURE – TOKKOU

London based brand Tokkou bring the beauty of their Japanese heritage to their clothing, whilst integrating their own edgy aesthetic. This gives the brand a contemporary street appeal that stands out.

The designs draw inspiration from the traditional Japanese youth subculture, called Bosozoku, which is all about customised motorcycles, tall boots, leather jackets and military overalls.

The brand certainly have a place within the London street market, and we personally love their fusion of traditional Japanese designs with the more contemporary cuts and shapes of the clothing.

Tokkou previously joined LDC last September, and have decided to return this February for their Fashion Week Pop-Up, we asked Tokkou why they decided to return to the store and why concept stores and business models like LDC are so vital in todays new retail landscape?

“We had a fantastic run last September which was our first time with LDC. We have known about the organisation for a while and were advised to have a presence there by a couple of other brands. We like the community spirit the store has where all the brands are helping each other to evolve.
The LDC provides both opportunity and an experience for brands and customers alike. The brand has a space to tell their story, whilst customers can find out behind the brand from the designers themselves. It is a win-win situation.  Although online sales are important, an independent brand like us still needs to have a pop-up shop like LDC for customers to come and touch the clothing they buy.”

Tokkou will be present at the Lone Design Club Concept Store, opening 11th February – 24th February, 10am – 7pm Daily located at 14-16 Great Pulteney St, Soho, London, W1F 9ND
