If you want your skin to glow, it’s important that you keep up with a good skincare routine, even if you’re in isolation. But even though the right products can help to reduce lines and wrinkles, hydrate your skin, and give you a natural glow, you need to think about your lifestyle as well. There are lots of bad habits many of us share that can damage your skin, even using lots of different products will have an impact. These are some of the top bad habits that are bad for your skin, and what you can do about them.

Not Using Sunscreen

Sunscreen is the most important skincare product there is because the sun does so much damage. Even if it isn’t that warm and you aren’t getting burnt, the sun still affects your skin and causes premature aging. Over the years, that damage gets a lot worse and it cannot always be undone, which is why it’s so important that you protect yourself. In the summer, make sure that you are wearing a good quality sunscreen, and look for one that gives good UVA and UVB protection. Some products will stop you from burning but they won’t actually stop the damage to your skin. During the winter, you should still be using a moisturizer that offers some SPF protection.

If you’re a smoker and you need another reason to quit, aside from all of the obvious health issues, do it for your skin. Smoking leads to premature aging and increases the likelihood of skin conditions, so if you want glowing skin, you need to kick the habit right away. If you are struggling, you should look for some online vape deals and switch to an e-cigarette instead. It’s still not an ideal as it’s better not to do anything at all, but it may help you cut back initially to phase it out altogether. Once you quit, it won’t take long before you start to notice a big improvement in your skin.

Eating Too Much Sugar

When people warn about the dangers of eating sugar, they’re usually talking about weight gain. But even if you are a healthy weight, you should consider cutting out sugar because it’s terrible for your skin. Sugar has been shown to speed up ageing and cause more lines and wrinkles in the skin. But if you swap out your sugary snacks for some fruits and vegetables instead, you can avoid the damage caused by sugar and the antioxidants in the healthy foods will help to improve your skin even more – just don’t overdo it with the fruits or the dentist will start complaining about the natural sugars and the effects it can have on your teeth too!

Popping Pimples

When you notice a pimple or zit, you probably want to get rid of it as soon as possible. But popping them is actually the worst thing that you can do because it can lead to scarring and infections. If you get zits often, you need to find ways to prevent them, like exfoliating properly and finding a good skincare routine that involves moisturising and cleansing twice a day. You should also look for good skin products that prevent acne, particularly ones that contain benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. It’s a bit of trial and error, but you can and will find the products that work for you.

If you cut out these bad habits, you will find that your skin is a lot clearer and you won’t need to use as many products to get your skin looking great.
