I’ve always been a fan of Fyodor – and after having the pleasure of dressing for him backstage for his SS18 collection – I got to see first hand how incredible his mind is, I mean Chupa Chups of all the things to get inspired by!!!
This season was no exception – the urban glamour got a reboot of new seasonal colours, textures and patterns, but retained that signature Fyodor style.
The collection is called Lost & Found, which represents abandoned elements from various eras – but I can see so much of the 80’s influence in this collection, it was hard to see any other eras.
The collection had a lovely touch of nostalgia (as is what we’ve come to expect from Fyodor) and this time he brought us a timeless pixelated classic character ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ – anyone remember racing around trying to grab all the coins??
“Working with SEGA using the early Sonic made perfect sense to our Lost & Found collection. We wanted to explore Sonic’s iconic look into items that would feel like your favourite childhood pyjamas contemporarily reimagined.” says Golan.
The runway show also had a clear environmental message which isn’t surprising based on the level of magnification issues like wastage have had in the industry of late, here’s what Fyodor had to say about his choices to support reducing plastic waste with the show “Being inspired by the oceans we couldn’t avoid the topic of plastic waste. We’ve teamed up with the charity ‘Plastic Oceans UK’ who have helped us collect abandoned fishing nets that are forming one of the largest dangers to marine life. These have been used in the set to illustrate this important issue, conveying a positive message and supporting ocean clean up and repurposing waste.”
We adored the collection, and can see that transparent jacket and that blue and white check skirt being hugely popular, and there’s several pieces we’ve got our eye on for shooting.
