On Friday 14th September 2018, Johnstons of Elgin hosted its SS19 presentation in the stunning surroundings of the Palm Court at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel. Johnstons of Elgin is famed for its cashmere – they’re pretty much the experts in it – but this season they showcased a new dimension.

The collection (15 womenswear and 5 menswear looks) has a ‘year round’ feel, in cutting edge lightweight fabrications such as cashmere (it’s trademark fabric), silk and cotton, which illustrated the year round wearability of cashmere. The overall feel was sporty, lux, and regal in a palette of pastels, hot pinks, lemon, electric blue, and complimented with cool neutrals to give depth.

Every fabric used is unique to the brand with cashmere woven in the company’s mill in Elgin on the banks of the River Lossie and knitwear created in the Border town of Hawick. In its quest to further its commitment to sustainability, the brand is working tirelessly with the Sustainable Fibre Alliance – which Johnstons of Elgin helped to fund and launch.

“It is an honour to return to London Fashion Week for a second season,” says Creative Director Alan Scott. “This unique collection, lovingly made in Scotland, retains our signatures of textile expertise, craft and tailoring for which we have become world renowned, whilst showing the fashion world – for the very first time – that the brand is for all seasons.”

The presentation was absolutely divine (the cocktails went down a treat! Thanks Red Door Gin!) and the setting in the Waldorf was absolutely beautiful, with palm trees extending the look and feel of the collection, and the open, well lit space, certainly transported me to a different time and place.
The images from the collection can be found below, and interestingly, all the images were taken on the night in front of all the presentation guests – making us all feel like we were part of the creative process – thumbs up from me!
