1×1 have always been at the forefront of environmentally conscious designing, with designer Yi-Ling focusing on creating speciality yarns, recycled fabrics and craft techniques that really challenge what we consider clothing to be.
This collection was inspired by the designers hometown of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, combining the industrial, structural, and natural scenes of this area. Known for their knitwear, 1×1 didn’t hold back on their aesthetic this season, using sweetcorn yarns, paper yarn, and recycled bottle fabrics to weave in their message of style coexisting with sustainability. In fact, 80% of the collection this season was made from sustainable materials, meaning that if these pieces were buried, they would decompose within 5 years – HALLELOO TO THAT!
1×1 isn’t just delivering us new style choices, but they are giving us the opportunity to change the planet.
